One should gently scratch the body of a cow, offer her a mouthful of green grass and reverentially circumambulate her. If cows are maintained nicely and comfortably, Lord Gopala will be pleased...... (From Gautamiya-tantra)
The 11th of March 2012, marks an unforgettable day for the children, parents and teachers of Sugam Karnatica. Around 9:30 a.m. in the morning, they stepped into the auspicious land of the cows known as Gokulam Farm which is located at Genting Highlands, Pahang.
Around 100 children and a few parents and teachers of Sugam Karnatica visited the farm. The program started off with H.G. Simheswara Prabhu’s speech about the glories of cows and the Gokulam farm. His Grace explained about our seven mothers namely a wife of a guru, a Brahmin’s wife, our mother, a nurse, Mother Earth, the queen and not forgetting mother cow.
His Grace also told the incident where during the Ponggal Festival, our ISKCON kids were very thrilled to be with the cows especially Chandrika, the new-born calf. Besides, when the ice-cream man was there, majority of them did not buy the ice-cream regardless of the sunny weather. The children of Sugam Karnatica were also asking whether they can stay in the farm.
After that, H.G Goloka Chandra Prabhu did a slide presentation about the cow farm in Hungary, where there were devotees staying there as permanent residents. He also explained about ISKCON Malaysia’s future plans of having a cow farm like that in Malaysia. Then, Prabhu had a question and answer session with the children about cows and he also told how to please them.
Then, H.G Simheswara Prabhu suggested the children, teachers and parents to bathe the cows and feed them fresh green grass. His Grace brought them to the cow barn which is situated on the hill of Gokulam Farm. A cold breeze was blowing towards us.Then, he told them to take a handful of fresh grass to feed the cows. They fed the cows as Mulakaranam Prabhu took their pictures. After that, they bathed Surabhi and Jalangi with water. The children took turns to do so. Definitely Lord Krsna would be pleased to see them bathing and feeding the cows.
After some time, Nandalal Prabhu demonstrated on how to make cheese out of cow’s milk. Some of them told me that the cheese was finger licking good. As the children were enjoying their prasadam, suddenly one of the cows came to ‘share’ the prasadam. Out of fear, the children were running around screaming and Mulakaranam Prabhu was busy taking their photos. It was a hilarious moment.
Finally, Simheswara Prabhu had a quiz session with the children. Prabhu asked some questions such as; what is the name of Krsna’s brother? The children are supposed to guess the name and point out the picture of the particular cow with that name, which was pasted on the board. Those who answered the question correctly win a gift provided if they chant the mahamantra correctly. If they failed to do so, they were ‘punished’ to dance or sing. When time was over, they had to bid farewell. Anyway, they were looking forward to visit our ISKCON Malaysia’s farm again.
..and our young news correspondent, Sanglish
Many children thought my family and I are staying in the farm with the other devotees because they were very surprised to see that we had so much love for cows and in return the cows are very close to us. In my point of view, I think it must be great to stay in the farm. It is because Gokulam Farm is a very peaceful and beautiful land which is far away from the busy cities. A day with Krsna’s best friends like the cows, will always remain an unforgettable memory which will be cherished in our hearts forever……..

Hare Krishna. Today's free prasadam distribution and book distribution was at a very old Tamil school at Sentul located just behind the La Salle Sentul. This school even has an altar room for kids to daily make prayers before attending classes. We distributed 26 Krishna Story Hard Bound and 309 small and medium size literatures and served out prasadam vegetarian meals to 350 students, teachers and staffs of the school. The headmistress requested us to come back and conduct the Damodara programme. Coming up next is in November for a maha programme at the Vivekananda Schook Jalan 222 just after Assunta Hospital on the same road where 1000 kids are waiting for the mercy of Lord Krishna in the form of books and prasadam. And there is good chance they will even get the merciful darshan of His pure devotees Srila Jayapataka Maharaj & Srila Bhakti Vrajendra Nandana Maharaj on the same day. IT WAS a Deepavali celebration with a difference for 70 teachers and around 1,200 pupils at SJK (T) Vivekananda, Petaling Jaya recently.
Not only were they treated to a sumptuous vegetarian meal, they also received free books under the Sastra Dana and Anna Dana Programme, jointly organised by Bhaktivedanta Books Trading Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Malaysia and Food For Life Society Malaysia.
Two separate programmes were held for pupils in the morning and afternoon sessions.
The morning session started off with HG Kripa Sindhu prabhu guiding the schoolchildren in singing the Hare Krishna Maha Manthra.
Pupils tucking into their meals during the event.
ISKCON Malaysia president HH Bhakti Vrajendranandana Swami then presented the school with a set of books including Bhagavad-Gita As It Is.
Pupils and teachers at the school also received books. A total of 70 Krishna Story books and 1,300 titles were distributed on the day.
The pupils and teachers were then treated to local delights such as nasi lemak, fried noodles, corn jelly and side dishes by members and volunteers of Food For Life Malaysia.
The school’s teachers and pupils thanked the company and societies for organising the event.
“The objective of this event was to create awareness especially among schoolchildren on the importance of sacred literature and to live based on its teaching, which guides us to lead a decent life,” said Food For Life Society Malaysia representative A. Vimala.
“The programme wouldn’t have been successful without the encouragement and support of ISKCON Malaysia general secretary HG Simheswara prabhu. We are also grateful to our donors and well-wishers,” she added.
