He proposed that biological complexity and diversity could be explained by variations in population. One hundred and fifty years later this promise has failed to come true.

Today Santi Vardhana Caitanya dasa, Gokul Damodara dasa, Satsvarupa and me attended a one full day CIDB seminar mostly related to the subject of safety on construction sites. Though we had to take the course mainly to comply with government regulations for those of us who frequent the temple construction site, nevertheless many of what was taught and presented can very much be applied in our daily lives and useful for ISKCON temple leaders and managements. ISKCON temples are very much crowd gathering places and where safety should be given top priority.

Back to updates on the construction, we are pleased to report that almost all Pile Caps have been concreted. Formwork for ground beams are now being done. Columns will come up in the coming week. The Octagon outline is beginning to be seen.

4 June - Temple Project Exhibition a Global Indian Exhibition, Mega Mall

Youths of ISKCON Bhaktivedanta Cultural Centre are almost daily at the project site since the ground breaking ceremony on 27 April to help with varied services such a coordinating RC Piling works, office and fund raising services. As young partners of the temple project the BCC youths are taking the project very seriously and are putting in as much as possible of their time and energy for the project. The temple building project committee appreciates their efforts and look forward to the youths taking major responsible positions in the management of the BCC and the future Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple Building Project.

HH Kavicandra Maharaj, an ISKCON GBC, had once remarked that on each of his planned or unplanned visits to Malaysia he is either at a Ground Breaking event, Nama Hatta opening or a convention.  And when Maharaj called me from Bali on April 24 little did he know he was going to be invited for another of such an event. This time it was to be the ISKCON Malaysia National Temple ground breaking ceremony at Seberang Jaya, Penang on Aksaya Tritiya on April 27. Maharaj accepted our invitation and made his way to Malaysia after his preaching programmes in Singapore.

A rare opportunity not to be missed

Scriptures recommend whatever auspicious to be accepted immediately.One very auspicious event approaching is the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Sri Sri Radha Krishna "Temple of Devotion & Understanding" on April 27, Aksaya Tritiya Tithi. HH Janananda Goswami Maharaj will grace the event.

Program for the Ground Breaking Ceremony will include chanting of mantras, vastu homa and especially climax with driving into the earth the first, and ONLY gold coloured Pile. Though a total of about 2050 of 175mm X 175mm X 6m type RC piles will be driven into the earth, the Rama Gold Pile however will be the special lifeline Pile connecting the earth to the main deity altar on the first floor of the temple.Total time to complete piling will be about a month starting with the temple and followed with the multipurpose hall.
